The Weight Board Operator's job is to confirm the weight of the aircraft in order to pass the information on to the Launching Officer aka "Shooter" so they can properly set the CSV to determine the opening rate of the launch valves. Before launch, they receive a set of numbers from the Shooter with the anticipated weights of the aircraft. When an aircraft arrives at the catapult, they will show its weight board to the pilot who will tell them to increase, decrease, or will approve, of the weight

Load Factor and Stall Speed Stall speed changes with weight and load factor (or apparent weight). Load Factor is the comparison of lift to weight of the aircraft. Since weight doesn't change, when we pitch up to maintain altitude in a turn, we increase Load Factor and our AOA. This means a continuation of pitching up or a reduction in speed causes the aircraft to reach the Critical AOA. Stall speed increases by the square root of load factor times our published stall speed (while at max weight).
