When one of our generating turbines at North Omaha Station needed a repair, our team didn’t waste a second. We noticed the rotor was bowed by 9/1000 of an inch — a tiny amount, but enough to throw off something that spins at 3,600 RPM. We jumped into action, disassembled the turbine and sent the rotor to St. Louis for a specialized heat treatment that gently pushed the metal back into place.
