Creaky door sounds, aka ‘vocal fry’ help to establish cord connection at the lowest possible frequency. It’s because the vocal folds are RELAXED and loosely closed - allowing for air to bubble through slowly. Practicing controlled vocal fry (a la this exercise) will help to build connection in the lower register. It’s a fantastic tool for reaching low notes!
