Noticing some rust on your brake rotors? Surface rust on rotors can occur even if a vehicle is sitting for a short period of time, but it’s not normally a cause for concern. Simply drive your vehicle as normal for a few minutes and the rust will be wiped away. However, if your vehicle has been sitting for an extended period of time, it‘s possible the rust could have caused pitting on the rotor, leading to an uneven braking surface. In this case, the rotors would most likely need to be replaced.
