Multivortex mayhem in Oklahoma! Tornadoes are endlessly fascinating in how they behave. In this case, this tornado was just establishing itself with multiple vorticies moving in a chaotic manner underneath a parent funnel. I’ve noticed most powerful tornadoes have a stage somewhat like this at the beginning that lasts for varying amounts of time. This massive multiple vortex tornado was incredible to witness, they always are when the twister is this massive with chaotic motion underneath. Even after seeing hundreds of tornadoes, this type of tornado still scares me a little, it feels so random and chaotic. Oftentimes this is a stage of a large tornado before it completely consolidates into one massive funnel, but sometimes they don’t like this one didn’t before it got fully wrapped in rain from our location.
