One of the biggest shifts in Telemark—and skiing as a whole—happened between 1995 and 2000. For Telemark specifically, that era marked a return to our roots of jumping after years of the discipline being seen mostly as a backcountry tool. There was amazing technical skiing in the 80s and early 90s, no doubt, but not much air-time. By the late ’90s, Telemark skiers were becoming far more well-rounded: mixing backcountry travel with steep, technical lines and sending natural and manmade features.
