The males make use of the female not wanting to stay boxed (closed) up while in the water. Box turtles are small but mighty and right in our backyard! Alongside Southern Conservation Trust, a team of aquarists from the Aquarium joined them to learn more about these turtles' environment, track, and protect their nests. Box turtles, as a species, are listed as vulnerable on the IUCN Red List, so it's important for us to learn more about places they are doing well to better help the species overall. | Georgia Aquarium
