Housing First is a powerful way to end homelessness. It is an internationally recognised programme designed to support people with high and complex needs who have been unable to sustain a long term home. Our Housing First Workers are responsible for providing intensive and flexible support, to help people set up their home and ultimately to support them to sustain that tenancy. Housing First didn’t fail. We failed to fund it. Housing First isn’t just giving someone a key and walking away; it’s housing plus support: mental health care, addiction treatment, case management, and a trained workforce to help people stabilize and heal.
