For this press run, Howard and Jared are using black rubber base ink to print a large photo engraving of a cartoon depiction of Howard and his favorite letterpress saying, “Mind your p’s & q’s.” The artwork was created by our staff member, Shawn. When it comes to letterpress printing, everything that one prints has to be .918 of an inch, also known as Type High. Because finding wood that fits that height requirement, sometimes woodcuts were recycled and a new engraving was made on the other side. We have some double sided woodcuts in our shop and we are highlighting one today because November 15th is National Recycling Day.
