Fort Morgan is a beautiful state historic site on the beach in Alabama, guarding mobile bay. It was active in WWI and WWII. It’s famous for it’s key confederate role in the Civil War’s battle at Mobile Bay. Then the Union army took the stronghold in August of 1864. It’s views look out into the end of the peninsula where the Gulf of America meets Mobile Bay and couldn’t be better. It has a museum on the site and it’s so family friendly and inexpensive with free parking and access to the beach! If
