Loggerheads are hatching in the Archie Carr Refuge! Check out this beautiful nest emergence that occurred right before Sea Turtle Conservancy at the Archie Carr Refuge’s Public Nest Dig yesterday morning. Reminder, if you spot hatchlings emerging, never stand between them and the ocean. They are taking in cues from their surroundings and building muscle necessary for their survival. We have officially broken our all-time sea turtle nest count, with 19,580 nests!! Our last record breaking nesting season was recorded in 2017 with a total of 19,085 nests. The 9.5 mile stretch of beach that LMC's research team monitors is one of the most densley nested sea turtle beaches in the world!
